            Newspaper is one of the media of communication. Newspapers brings us first hand news not only of Sri Lanka but also of the other countries in the world.

            Some newspapers are published daily. Others are published weekly. Newspapers are published in all three languages, Sinhal, English and Tamil. Dinamina, Lankadeepa, Divaina and Lakbima are daily Sinhala newspapers. The English dailies are Daily News, The Island and Dally mirror. Dinapathi, Thinakaran, Sudaroli and Weerakesari are the Tamil dailies.

            Irida Lankadeepa, Silumina, Irida Lakbima are weekly Sinhala newspapers. The English weekly newspapers are Island, Sunday, Sunday observer, and Sunday Times.

            We can read local news, foreign news, obituaries, sports diary, employment advertisement, other sports diary, employments, classifieds and articles in a newspaper. The most important feature of a newspapers is its editorial.

            Newspapers play an important role in the society. It voices the public opinion. We find lot of articles written by distinguished writers. They are one political, social, educational and cultural topics.

            A newspaper educates the people. That is way it has become so popular among people in all walks of life. In a newspaper there are special pages for children too.

            The sports page has become very popular among young readers. Newspapers is regarded as the cheapest means to get all important local and foreign news. A newspaper is indispensable to the modern man and his community.

MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE DAY

              My favorite time of the day is between 5 p. m and 7 p. m. This is the time when the sun is setting and the air is cooling down. At this time, I play some games, watch T.V, reading books.             My house is a large one. So, my family planted many trees surrounding our house, Birds come to the trees in the evening to sing their songs. I just sit under my favorite mango tree and listen to these songs.             However I cannot just sit quietly all the time. My parents sometimes ask me to help them. These I do gladly for the air is nice and cool. Working under a hot sun is one thing I don’t like. In the evening the sun is soft and gentle. So I like it.
