AN EXHIBITION HELD IN OUR SCHOOL

 



            A science exhibition was held in our school last two years ago. It was organized by Science Club of our school. It was held for one form 10th to 17th.

            The main objective of the exhibition was to raise funds of the Science Club. It also paved the way for students to display their creative talents and to rouse an interest in them to use their inventions in their daily lives.

            We invited the students of the   neighboring schools too to present their exhibits for exhibition.

            There were a lot of creative and wonderful inventions among the exhibits.                                    Mr. A.M.T. Rathnayake, Zonal Director of education declared open the exhibition. In his speech he stressed the value of learning science subjects. He also thanked the organizers who had planned the exhibition well.

            A large number of parents, past pupils and well wishers visited the exhibition. We were able exceed our targeted income. Our exhibition was a great success.

Sigiriya

                  Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka. Sigiriya the name refers to a site of historical by a archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters high.             According to the history of Sri Lanka this rock used as a kingdom in Sri Lanka by king Kashyapa in 5 th century. He built his palace on top of the rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. Sigiriya consists with all features in the kingdom such as flower gardens, lakes, caves etc. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a getaway in the form of an enormous lion. MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE DAY

              My favorite time of the day is between 5 p. m and 7 p. m. This is the time when the sun is setting and the air is cooling down. At this time, I play some games, watch T.V, reading books.             My house is a large one. So, my family planted many trees surrounding our house, Birds come to the trees in the evening to sing their songs. I just sit under my favorite mango tree and listen to these songs.             However I cannot just sit quietly all the time. My parents sometimes ask me to help them. These I do gladly for the air is nice and cool. Working under a hot sun is one thing I don’t like. In the evening the sun is soft and gentle. So I like it.
