SCHOOL SPORTS MEET

 

            Our sports meet was held on the 2018. It was a memorable day for every one of us. There are four houses in our school. They are Mayura, Hansa, Paravi, Kokila. For weeks before the great, we had sports practice. Every evening after school we decorated our houses artistically.

            Mr. D.M Karunarathne, the Zonal Director of Education was the chief guest. The sports meet attracted a vast crowd. There were parents, past pupils and well wishers. We were able to start the meet at the scheduled time. First the Olympic Torch was lit by the captains of the four houses. There were many events at the sports meet. The first few items were relays. High jump,  long jump and hurdles race.

            During the interval the visitors were served with short eats and cool drinks. There were some interesting items after the interval. They were the obstacle race, the sack race, the three-legged race, the bun eating race and the fancy dress parade. These items caused much laughter and amusement.

            There were two other interesting races too. They were the Teachers’ race and the visitors’ race. Our class teacher Miss Kamala Disanayaka came first in the Teachers race.

            Then the Chief Guest made a speech praising the members of the staff and the organizing committee on the perfect arrangements. He also stressed the value of sports. The Hansa house which scored 210 points came first. The prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners by the Chief Guest. The proceedings of the day came to an end by 7.00 p . m
