               Our sports meet was held on the 2018. It was a memorable day for every one of us. There are four houses in our school. They are Mayura, Hansa, Paravi, Kokila. For weeks before the great, we had sports practice. Every evening after school we decorated our houses artistically.             Mr. D.M Karunarathne, the Zonal Director of Education was the chief guest. The sports meet attracted a vast crowd.               Road accident is a global tragedy with the ever-vising trend. Almost every day, We hear the news of the accident on the television, radio and internet. One report states that “ 1.2 million people die and 50 million are injured in road accident each year.             To begin with, carelessness is one of the major cause of the road accidents. Under carelessness, we have various examples, which include, using the mobile phone while the vehicle   in moving, break the traffic rules and entering from the side road into the path of the vehicle. Furthermore, when inexperience and untrained that drive at night is one of the major cause of escalating accident rate in Sri Lanka.               Martin Wickramasinghe was one of the most prominent Sri Lankan writers of all times. He was born in 1890 in a village in Southern Sri Lanka, Koggala. It is said that the landscape of this place, where he had spent his childhood was what inspired most of his novels and stories. At the age of five Wickramasinghe was taught the Sinhala alphabet, at home and in the village temple, by a monk, Andiris Gurunnanse. After two years he was taken to a vernacular school where he was sent to an English school in Galle called Buona vista. In the two years spent at the school Wickramasinghe become fluent in English as well as Latin.               My favorite time of the day is between 5 p. m and 7 p. m. This is the time when the sun is setting and the air is cooling down. At this time, I play some games, watch T.V, reading books.             My house is a large one. So, my family planted many trees surrounding our house, Birds come to the trees in the evening to sing their songs. I just sit under my favorite mango tree and listen to these songs.             However I cannot just sit quietly all the time. My parents sometimes ask me to help them. These I do gladly for the air is nice and cool. Working under a hot sun is one thing I don’t like. In the evening the sun is soft and gentle. So I like it.

                  Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka. Sigiriya the name refers to a site of historical by a archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters high.             According to the history of Sri Lanka this rock used as a kingdom in Sri Lanka by king Kashyapa in 5 th century. He built his palace on top of the rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes.                 The small garden infront of my house is the result of my favorite hobby, gardening. I possess a natural interest towards gardening.             I have prepared a small but lovely garden within the boundary of my house. There are multiple plants with pretty flowers. I am very loving roses. So I have collected fifteen varieties of rose in my garden. There are many other flowers too. Besides these, there are small fruit trees in a small part of my garden during my leisure time.             As well as I have planted fruits and vegetables in my garden.                           We went to our uncle’s house in Galle. His house is near the sea beach. My mother, father, sister and I went there.             We walked along the beach. There were lot of sea shells on the beach. We collected them and put them into a bag. The white sand on the beach was very clean. We saw some little children building play houses on the beach. We also saw some young men splashing water at one another. We were not allowed to bathe in the sea.             Although we walked under the host sun, the environment was samewhat cool because of the wind. We saw some sea gulls flying over the coconut trees.               A science exhibition was held in our school last two years ago. It was organized by Science Club of our school. It was held for one form 10 th to 17 th .             The main objective of the exhibition was to raise funds of the Science Club.
